I think everyone has a junk drawer and there would be good reason. There are some things that are just meant to live in an accessible receptacle. Living in a small apartment and adopting a minimalist approach to things, I forgo the junk drawer and must now reinstate a designated catchall place. No matter how organized I might be having the odd paper clip or twisty thingy along with some screws or twine or whatever all in one place is a must. I surrender.
